****************************1. About CountyCAT****************************
CountyCAT was written as a supplement to the logging program "Log-EQF" by
Tom Dandrea, although it can supplement any logging program that allows you
to shell to DOS, or another program. I wanted a program to help me with
county hunting, but I didn't want to switch to a new logging system. I
wrote CountyCAT so that I could shell from "Log-EQF" to check on a county
then get back to logging. I think CountyCAT fills this need. I will
continue to update this product as interest in it demands. If you have
ideas on CountyCAT, please contact me.

************************ 2. START-UP INSTRUCTIONS ************************
To start CountyCAT, just put the contents of the archive into a single
directory. CountyCAT will do the rest. It will also help if you add the
directory that contains CountyCAT to your path, consult your DOS manual if
you have any questions.
************************** 3. RUNNING COUNTY CAT *************************
At the main menu there are four choices:
Select State - Allows you to pick a state database to view or update.
Print Report - Prints a complete county hunters report to LPT1 or a DOS
text file. (Registered users only!)
Summary - Allows you to view your progress, sorted by state it also
prints a one page summary of county hunting activity.
Save and Exit - Saves any open files and exits the program.
Configure - Allows access to the path command as well as registration
codes and other information.
Select State:
This menu selection will move you to a screen with all 50 states
listed. Use the arrow keys to highlight the state you want to examine or
update and press ENTER.
Pressing ENTER moves you to the state viewing/updating screen. Use
your arrow keys and page up/down to move the highlight bar to a county that
you want to update, then press ENTER. While in this area, you can also
press a letter on your keyboard to find a county. For example, if you are
looking for Marion county, press the "M" key. It will find the first
county that starts with the letter "M". Press "M" again, to find the next
"M" county. Press ENTER to update/change a county.
After pressing ENTER, you are now in the county update mode. Fill in
the blanks until you are satisfied with the information in the county area.
While entering information, a special feature has been added to speed the
process. Use lower case letters in entering the callsign, city and mode.
CountyCAT will automatically shift the callsign and mode to uppercase
letters. The program will also shift the first letter of the city to
uppercase. If you want to save the information into the database, press
F10, if not, press ESC.
Print Report:
This selection prints a complete report suitable for submission for the
CQ Worked-All-Counties Award. Follow the prompts to print the report to a
DOS text file or to LPT1. The paper report uses approximately 58 sheets of
paper. This option is available to registered users of CountyCAT only.
Summary:
This selection prints a one page summary of counties worked vs unworked
counties. The report is printed to the screen. If you require the report
output to the printer, press ALT/P. The report uses one sheet of paper.
Save and Exit:
Not much mystery here! This selection closes any open files and exits
the program.
Configure:
This selection lets you set up the user configurable options. You can
enter your name, callsign, and the path to the data files.
Use the up/down arrow keys to select the item to be updated, then press
ENTER. Update the information to your satisfaction then press ENTER again.
If you want to save the information into the database, press F10, if not,
press ESC.
